CYNE (”Cultivating Your New Experience”) is an American indie hip-hop group originating from Gainesville, Florida. Characterized with a warm and soulful sound influenced by left-field hip-hop, rock, trip-hop and jazz, the group is known for lyrics that range from party boasting to meditations on the philosophy of Rousseau. The group consists of emcees Akin and Cise Star, and producers Enoch and Speck, and are currently signed to City Centre Offices.
CYNE has collaborated with artists from around the world, including Nujabes, whose solo projects have featured Cise Star and Akin, and Four Tet, who produced several remixes for and toured with them in 2005
‘Starship Utopia’ is a auditory exploration of social and cosmic themes. This collection of songs has been tightly crafted over the period of 3 years, backed by an ever-expanding musical palette and the group’s personal growth. With the added input of their friends (ROM, Deceptikon, Asshole Parade, Stres, Seven Star, and Soarse Spoken), CYNE takes another step forward in developing an expression and tonality that defines the band’s collective character. An accent that’s warm, a voice that resonates, a noise that roams the galaxies.
